Frank Maston's "Tulips" sounds like a psychedelic 1970s film score, somewhere between Ennio Morricone, Serge Gainsbourg and KPM. The LP was released in 2017 in a limited edition and is now being re-released by Be With Records. The trick is that the tuness can run at 45rpm as well as 33rpm. Hypnagogic and dreamlike.

The debut album by Son Lux drummer Ian Chang with features from KAZU (Blonde Redhead) and KiahVictoria and Hanna Benn! On "Belonging" Ian Chang conjures up a very personal cosmos in nine concise, largely instrumental pop songs. Following the tradition of Björk, Burial and Flying Lotus, Ian Chang breathes a new kind of human vulnerability into electronica. While Ian Chang's EP "Spiritual Leader" (2017) limited himself to capturing uncut performances without overdubs, the drummer digs even deeper into layered, symphonic subconscious on the length of the album. Highlights are the songs with guest vocals by, among others, KAZUU (Blonde Redhead, Kiah IVctoria and Hanna Benn). Ian Chang was born in Hong Kong in 1988 and after 10 years in New York, he recently moved to Dallas, Texas. When he is not performing live anywhere in the world or recording as a member of Son Lux or Landlady, he is working on his collaboration list, which now includes Moses Sumney, Kazu Makino, Joan As Policewoman, Body Language, Matthew Dear and Rubblebucket. Formats: - CD in digipak - The LP as black vinyl in single cover
Three outtakes from the recording sessions for Swimming In Thunderstorms, the current album of the band around John Watts from 2019. Now available for the first time.
70s-Songwriting meets Americana: Die Bremer/Hamburger Band Someday Jacob sorgt spätestens seit dem 2015 erschienen Album »It Might Take A While« für Aufsehen. »Oxygen Will Flow« entstand in Zusammenarbeit mit Simon »Barny« Barnicott (Arctic Monkeys, Stereophonics, Temper Trap, Half Moon Run, Sam Mendes).
With “Your Hero Is Not Dead”, the exceptional British talent Westerman presents a wonderfully timeless and decelerated debut album, which creates its very own hopeful pop world between sweet vocal melodies, accomplished guitar playing and intimate electronics. The two previously released EPs “Call and Response” (2017) and “Ark” (2018) built a bed of laurels, on which Westerman appeared in the twelve varied and emotional album songs that he and his long-time partner in Crime Nathan Jenkins (Bullion) produced in the Portuguese sun, playfully easy and pleasantly carefree.
Influenced by French chanson, experimental cult musician Gary Wilson and the pop ballads of the 1960s, the debut album by Boiler Room member, NTS Radio DJ and Mndsgn collaborator Sofie is the direct answer to difficult personal experiences that prompted the artist to do so to return to her home in Vienna, far from her musical reference group in LA, among others.
The band is now a duo consisting of the founding members Alisa Xayalith and Thom Powers, and with their new LP they are regaining their place as the most exciting pioneers of a current indie sound. Musically they have perfected the dreamy, catchy synth pop, but when it comes to their familiar and intimate storytelling, the two remain true to each other. "Recover" is a largely autobiographical album - deeply rooted in a strong feeling of wanting to survive, a deeply human drive for self-preservation, and the need to celebrate and protect yourself in a world that is constantly trying to get you down.
Excellent first sampler of the small but fine indie label Come Play With Me from Leeds, which with 13 tracks by 13 artists from Leeds and the surrounding area reflects the independent music scene of this northern English city. "Come Stay With Me" comes with a rich program between indie and alternative, pop, jazz and grime - colorful, interesting and diverse.
On his new album "Where Have All My Friends Gone?" presents us multi instrumentalist and singer / songwriter Robert Tilden aka BOYO from Los Angeles twelve groovy pop songs soaked in psychedelia, in which he processes his epilepsy diagnosis, concentrates more than ever on song writing and production and thus delivers the best album of his career. "A little Elliott Smith, Ty Segall, Elephant 6, The Beatles, Olivia Tremor Control, etc., in the vein of fuzzy, woozy and a little ragged." - NPR
After their debut at Hopeless Records with 'Skinny Dipping', the band quickly became known and was nominated as an 'International Breakthrough Artist' at the Heavy Music Award in 2018 and almost 2 years later the successor PINK ELEPHANT follows, who is a little more into the alternative -Pop moves, but will still be an important release for fans of Neck Deep, State Champs and Paramore.
"I Could Be Happy" (2016) was released six years after the French album by Nouvelle Vage and, in addition to six cover versions of post-punk and new wave classics, initially also contained four own compositions by NV masterminds Marc Collin and Olivier Libaux.
"Vie Future" (2019) is the name of the third album from Agnès Gayraud's La Féline project on Kwaidan Records. Unusual new wave synth pop from France with hypnotic depth and introspective, French sung lyrics, which strikes demanding notes with great ease.
"Welcome To Conceptual Beach", the third album by the Californian art rock band Young Jesus for Saddle Creek, conveys a balance between the individual and the collective, between rationality and emotion, between tame and wild. In the seven epics, some of which are up to 12 minutes long, the complex musicality of post- and math-rock becomes radical and crystal-clear practice, lively and bright. Young Jesus skillfully balance wandering riffs from earlier works with irresistible hooks, embed them in their characteristic improvisation and create such a shimmering, liquid sound carpet.
The third album by the Liverpool trio celebrates life. All We Are, that is the Irish drummer Richard O'Flynn, the Norwegian bassist Guro Gikling and the Brazilian guitarist Luis Santos, who have now found a common musical home in Liverpool. On their third album Providence, the trio celebrates life in all its facets: love, loss, sex, friendship ...
"Indistinct Conversations" is the new album by the Canadian indie rock trio Land Of Talk from Montreal around singer and songwriter Elizabeth Powell , The Fader, Stereogum, Vulture, ...) was highly praised. The 11 new songs bear the trio's seal of approval, consisting of powerful guitars, shiny silver vocals and authentic lyrics.
The London band collective Archive closes the celebrations for the 25th anniversary with the musical icing on the cake “Versions”, ten newly arranged versions of their favorite songs. 2019 was celebrated extensively with a six LP box set, which depicts the development of the band from trip hop through the psychedelic prog phase to electric rock. On the tour that followed, the song pearls emerged, which can be found in revamped and newly arranged form on “Versions”. The album rounds off the band's history to date and at the same time provides the starting signal for a successful future.
Four re-releases of the postpunk band around singer Adrian Borland, which unfortunately was always a little overshadowed by Killing Joke, Joy Division or The Cure. The highly acclaimed debut 'Jeopardy' was produced on a minimal budget at the Korova record label and was released in 1980. The successor was even more successful and was based on Joy Division, Echo & The Bunnymen or The Cure. The band later switched to Statik Records where 'Shock Of Delight' (mini-album), 'Head And Hearts' and the live double album 'In The Hothouse' were released. All three albums are released as 140 gr. LP with printed inner sleeves and in clear vinyl! They are supplemented by 'Propaganda', a collection of home recordings that were made before the debut and were first published in 1999.
“This idea of the divided self captivated me,” sagt Higgs, und er präzisiert: “Jaynes attributes this to the origin of gods, people ascribing deity status to this voice they could hear in their head. All this blew my mind, and I started thinking of ways I could make this a central concept. It really touched me. So across the whole record there are millions or references to this theory – to having a split brain, two selves, hearing voices.” Higgs kommentiert das Stück wie folgt: "‘Arch Enemy’ sees a modern-day protagonist searching for a meaningful God. Finding only a congregation of greed, toxicity and waste, in the form of a sentient fatberg in the sewer, he duly prays to it, willing it to purge the decadent world above that has created it. These growing grease mountains are a curious juxtaposition of the modern and the ancient; a brand new example of archaic squalor.”
In March 2020, The Lottery Winners from Manchester jumped straight into the top 25 of the UK album charts with their self-titled debut album, reaching # 3 on the independent and # 8 on the vinyl charts. At the same time, after supporting Madness, The Libertines and Sleeper, they celebrated their own biggest headline tour. During the lockdown, the cover album "Sounds Of Isolation" was created with 11 wonderful, typically British indie pop covers of timeless pop classics by such diverse acts as Fleetwood Mac, Marvin Gaye, Joy Division, Dolly Parton, Oasis, Rick Astley and The Beatles.
Tom Findlay (Groove Armada) and "Late Night Tales" once again prove their taste and style. The late seventies yacht pop is followed by super cool 80's groove, the sound of the post-disco era when soul / R & B entered the age of synthesizers. We hear great Jimmy Jam / Terry Lewis productions for Thelma Houston and Alexander O'Neal, we hear Sharon Brown in a production by the disco legend Tee Scott, we hear the overgroovers Mtume and Zapp, we hear the smash hits by Donna Allen, Rene & Angela and the Timex Social Club, and as an exclusive cover we hear a superb version by Sugardaddy (Tom Findlay & Tim Hutton) of the hit classic "Don't Look Any Further". Both sound carriers will be released again in top equipment: CD as an exclusive mix set, including bonus download code with all played tracks in wav / mp3 formats, including 12-page. Booklet with personal liner notes for each track in a cardboard slipcase. 2LP as a limited 180g pressing with 19 of 20 played tracks, mastered audiophile at half speed, including bonus download code with all tracks (once completely played, once as a mix set) in wav / mp3 formats, in gatefold with antistatic inner pockets.
Metronomy, the effective alias of the talented Joseph Mount, have thus far released three albums, starting with the jagged electro manoeuvres of their debut ‘Pip Paine (Pay The £5000 You Owe)’, through to their two albums on Because, ‘Nights Out’, where Mount first sang, and last year’s brilliant Mercury-nominated ‘The English Riviera’. As a pop group, Metronomy that are more Four Tet than Fab Four, though with a sense of adventure that would’ve made the Fabs proud. Their outing under the Late Night Tales banner journeys through the inspirations of the bands’ ever moving sound – along with a few surprises. Mount’s old favourite Autechre is present and correct, but then so are Kate and Anna McGarrigle and the Sun Ra of hip hop Sa-Ra Creative Partners. Joining Sa-Ra on the hip hop front, we’ve got Tweet’s ace ‘Drunk’ from her Hummingbird album alongside OutKast ‘Prototype’, spiced with some Doctor Octagon. For pure pop, they don’t come more refined than Alan Parson’s ‘Eye In The Sky’, who is buffeted by outbreaks of unsettling weirdness, among them the sadly departed Mick Karn’s supple bass figurines on ‘Weather The Windmill’ or Tonto’s Expanding Head Band – the guys that brought the funk to synthesizers with Stevie Wonder – and ‘Cybernaut’. And just when you think you’ve got it figured, Pete Drake arrives with his 1964 pedal steel novelty hit ‘Forever’. This is a maze rather than a journey. Naturally enough, there is the Late Night Tales special with a sparkling Metronomy rendition of Jean-Michel Jarre’s ‘Hypnose’. We’ve always had a soft spot for Devon and her cobbled street delights, but seen through the prism of Joseph Mount, it takes on a new hue that makes Brigitte Bardot and that other, lesser, Riviera seem somehow pallid. To paraphrase Buzzcocks: another music in a different riviera.
In the album's music we find vintage influences, recalling the faded charm of 70s erotica, warm tones also rooted in psychedelia, disco, yéyé, and French chanson. The Montreal trio Le Couleur, created by Laurence Giroux-Do (vocals), Patrick Gosselin (bass), and Steeven Chouinard (drums), delivers rich and irresistibly danceable performances. Le Couleur polished their sound until it shined as bright as the late Studio 54's spotlights with EPs Voyage Love (2013) and Dolce Désir (2015), and then POP (2016), their critically acclaimed debut album. Thanks to precious advice from Giorgio Moroder, with whom the band had the opportunity of sharing the stage, Le Couleur recorded their new album adopting a completely different approach. Concorde takes its name from the legendary Franco-British airplane from 1965, nicknamed the "beautiful white bird" for its sleek and modern design. This avant-garde project that ended in tragedy has always held a certain fascination for Laurence Giroux-Do; a deadly "crash" that inspired in her a sense of macabre sensuality. In the album's music we find vintage influences, recalling the faded charm of 70s erotica, warm tones also rooted in psychedelia, disco, yéyé, and French chanson.
After he released his first two EPs on phonograms in early 2019, Boy Pablo, a young and enormously talented singer / songwriter of Chilean origin from Bergen, Norway, is now releasing his debut album. "Wachito Rico" (Chilean for "attractive guy") is a conceptual and autobiographical album on which Boy Pablo takes us through the ups and downs of a young man's love experiences. Inspired by classic songwriters of the 1960s, his songs are heartwarming dream pop with sun-soaked melodies full of old soul, steeped in the melancholy and vulnerability of a young person.

Third album by Paddy Hanna, one of Ireland's most colorful singer / songwriters, recorded with studio musicians like Adam Faulkner and Daniel Fox (both girl band members), Daniel Fitzpatrick (Badhands, The Mighty Stef) and Jill Redmond on vocals. Solid alternative pop songs somewhere between Jarvis Cocker and Scott Walker, full of dark humor, vulnerability and Phil Spector-like arrangements. White vinyl with download code.
Even if their time together as a band was short-lived, Pylon made a lasting contribution to the development of the post-punk and art-rock scene in the early 80s. Artists like REM, Gang of Four, Sonic Youth and many others name the band as inspiration. The second album by the band from Athens, GA, released in 1983, is now finally available again, freshly remastered from the original tapes.
"Positive Mental Health", the debut album by the alternative rock band Tiña, is the very first long player to be released on the Speedy Wunderground label founded by UK producer legend Dan Carey. For the album recordings, the five-piece south London band stayed in the cozy "Speedy" studio of their label boss and producer Dan Carey. The almost spiritual Tiña live energy of the band was captured in several sessions. Frontman Joshua Loftin packs the lyrical depth that the album title suggests nonchalantly with a wink. Musically, "Positive Mental Health" meets grunge with country rock, airy indie pop meets nagging post-punk - an incredibly exciting cocktail! The LP appears on limited pink transparent vinyl
Katy J Pearson releases her solo debut "Return" on Heavenly Recordings. The album symbolizes Pearson's resumption of music-making after a previous joint project with her brother fell victim to the pressure of a major recording contract. Together with producer Ali Chant (PJ Harvey, M. Ward, Perfume Genius, Gruff Rhys), the young Englishwoman recorded an album with ten new songs with newfound strength, ranging from amorous country, lo-fi folk and glittering pop leap. Ltd. Col LP, transparent red vinyl with bonus booklet
The 2007 album by the cult band Of Montreal from Athens, Georgia. The 2LP contains 4 more tracks from the EP "Icons, Abstract Thee" (2007) in addition to the 12 CD tracks.
Third album by the US indie quintet Shy Boys from Kansas City, Missouri, which brings back memories of The Beach Boys and The Byrds with its love for 1960s psychedelic pop and fantastic vocal harmonies. LP on muted light pink vinyl including download code.
mxmtoon is finally releasing their two EPs "dawn" and "dusk" together on vinyl. While "dawn" is characterized by hope and optimism, "dusk" offers the counterpart and, on the other hand, is dedicated to moments of standstill and loneliness. With an impressive list of collaborators such as Merrill Garbus from Tune-Yards and Carly Rae Jepsen, mxmtoon proves their creative powers on the songs. The wonderfully shady sound of “dusk” sparkles even in the darkest moments of shadow. The beautiful ukulele on the first single "bon iver" evokes the typical mxmtoon sound with a shimmering wealth of production value, while the elegant ballad of "asking for a friend" dissolves into a beautiful, breakbeat-filled second half. Then there is "ok on your own", an R&B song with Canadian pop queen Carly Rae Jepsen. The focus of the "dawn" and "dusk" songs is a universal and understandable message: there is no happiness without sadness, and if you learn to live with both feelings, you can discover new depths in the joy of life. "
Jansky is a small wooden hut on a wide open meadow, surrounded by a mountain range. This hut crackles and creaks with every step. Jansky was created on a mild summer evening when guitarist Martin Rupp (Mr. Rose) wanted to record a song sketch in his parents' garden in Lower Austria. The special thing about this recording wasn't the song, but the late summer atmosphere in the background, the rustling of the leaves, the chirping of the insects. To recapture this mood, he and his sister Anna founded Jansky. Together they want to create the most organic sound possible and reduce it to the essentials, its essence. They are located somewhere between lo-fi experiment and singer-songwriter pop. Even if guitar sometimes meets chopped up drum grooves or billowing analog synthesizer surfaces meet piano decompositions, simplicity and narration are the focus of Jansky.
'Cannot Be, Whatsoever' is the second solo album by Cardiff-based musician Ali Lacey, aka Novo Amor. Listening to Lacey's high-pitched falsetto voice will quickly remind you of other artists such as Bon Iver or James Vincent McMorrow. The high head voice ensures a high level of intimacy in his songs, the arrangements of the songs range from ballads to orchestral works. There is a harmonious atmosphere throughout the album. His productions have been heard several times in series such as Pretty Little Liars, Bones, Teen Wolf and Masters of Sex. The dreamy indie folk takes the listener into beautiful dream worlds.
Hinreissend! "It’s cool to think about what you would listen to late at night, as a band together, lighting a spliff, kinda vibe. We definitely wanted to cover as much global territory as possible; so it was the globe and then home. We wanted to show the treasures from our hometown, or people from our hometown that the rest of the world probably doesn’t know. That’s what makes Khruangbin Khruangbin. The stubbornness about being so hometown-centric but what makes Houston is this this constant international influence. That’s that gulf stream, bringing it right into Houston. So I guess that’s kind of the theme."
In 2011, the French writer, Ingrid Astier met with the Hanak brothers, Frédéric and JB and expressed a desire to work with them. This came to be in 2013: when the two brothers and their band dDamage appear over in the pages of Ingrid Astier’s novel “Angle Mort” (dead corner), published by Gallimard. In 2014, Ingrid Astier publishes a new book, which stands out from the previous ones due to its poetic character and its alphabet form, “le petit éloge de la nuit” (the Little Praise of the Night), "a magnificent tribute to the power of the night" according to François Busnel. host and producer of La Grande Librairie on French television. The friendship story continues, and this time we see a double-page spread from the book entrusted to the two brothers. Immediately, the desire to bring “le petit éloge de la nuit” (the Little Praise of the Night), to music arose. Ingrid Astier then enabled the bridge between two extremely different worlds, and the improbable meeting between Pierre Richard and JB Hanak took place. In 2017, “le petit éloge de la nuit” (the Little Praise of the Night), was adapted to theater and had a successful run of more than fifty performances at the Rond-Point des Champs-Elysées theatre (Paris), a three-season tour in France, Switzerland, Belgium and Luxembourg, and finally a revival in June 2019 at La Scala in Paris. The three artists met again at the end of 2019, this time wanting to convert all their work into the album format. It will be “Nuit à jour” (Night to Day). Something more pop than their improvised concerts, more glam than their theatrical adaptation. JB Hanak is on guitar, bass, synth and rhythmic programming, consumed with a desire to reveal with each changing track a different facet of this imagined nocturnal universe. Ingrid Astier, is of course involved covering the direction of the actors as well as the writing of the lyrics, very much as would be found in the cinema. And then, there is Pierre Richard. At one moment a dreamer, the next a cowboy, suddenly Mafioso and then a nocturnal animal. Thinker, lover, philosopher, astronaut or sandman. Pierre Richard is an actor, an actor of immense presence confined too often to comic roles. “Nuit à Jour” offers him roles he has not had in the movies ... And it is breathtaking, both in its register and in a sense of deep renewal.
After the stormy success of their recently released studio album "One Day At A Time" (including Top 10 in Switzerland), which was streamed more than 60 million times, Kodaline are now presenting the accompanying deluxe edition, which also includes a collaboration with Gabrielle Aplin will, another as yet unreleased song, two covers - "Teenage Kicks" and "The Rare Auld Times" and of course the previously released singles. The original version of "Everyone Changes" already has more than 750,000 streams, gets a whole new look through the collaboration with Gabrielle Aplin and brings a more personal quality with it. The band adds: "When we wrote 'Everyone changes' for our new album we always felt the song would work better as a duet, so with the help of Gabrielle Aplin and her beautiful vocals, here's the result. We hope you guys like it "This is the first opportunity for fans to own the record in a physical format!
First collaboration album by the two indie experimentalists Daniel O'Sullivan (London) and Richard Youngs (Glasgow), who are now working together for the first time after solo works on Tim Burgess' O Genesis label. They used the piano, tape machines, guitars, sheet metal, computers, string and reed instruments as musical sources. The result is a cycle of 12 songs based on a single sequence of sounds. Poinsettia Red Vinyl.
