Tru Thoughts presents 'Covers 3' - the third part of the label's 'Covers' compilation series, put together by A&R, the label's co-founder and renowned DJ Robert Luis. The release brings together unique and captivating cover versions by artists past and present, released and loved as album tracks, singles or one-offs alongside exclusive reworks. The LP will be released digitally and in a limited edition of 500 hand-numbered, ice-cream-colored vinyl records (plus a download card with all 18 tracks). "Covers 3" contains adaptations of originals by a variety of cult artists, including Afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti, peripheral soul character William DeVaughn, the preeminent jazz fusion band Weather Report, American music innovator Duke Ellington, the anthemic jungle -Duo Shy FX & Apache, the hip-hop duo Pete Rock & CL Smooth from the Golden Age, the idiosyncratic and elliptical singer-songwriter Frank Ocean and many others. Tru Thoughts Covers 3 "is an extraordinary listening experience that re-contextualises popular classics and gives them a fresh touch.
