The four-piece band Chicano Batman from LA mixes soul with hypnotic psychic bonds and a lot of sunny groove on their fourth album “Invisible People”. Together with the Grammy-winning producer Shawn Everett (Alabama Shakes, The War On Drugs, Kacey Musgraves), the band has recorded an album that prompts us to dance and celebrates that we are all different and that our different colors come together in a colorful world . The LP appears on black vinyl as gatefold and with a download code.
It took Yotam Avni a while to get his debut album; actually almost a decade since his debut 12 ", That's What The World Needs" on the Seasons Limited imprint in California. During this time the producer based in Tel Aviv has refined his productions, streamlined the groove and reduced everything to the essentials; the strength of an Avni cut is the combination of a deep but gently used musicality, which gives his techno productions more weight on the dance floor, but also a lyrical sensibility that places him in a tradition of techno legends that he somehow succeeds in turning the four-to-the-floor into a space of poetic intensity and rigorous joy.

The fact that Abramis Brama, which has existed for ten years and whose name is mysteriously the Latin term for “bream”, works hard on stage is immediately apparent to the audience - regardless of the language in which the texts are conveyed. Hard rock and stoner rock have a loud, mane-shaking relationship here. Here is a new edition of their classic 'Smakar Söndag' for the first time on vinyl! "With the latest studio album Rubicon at the latest, the Stockholm ABRAMIS BRAMA in Sweden have established themselves as grand masters of classic / retro rock. If there is a festival somewhere, every organizer tries to get the boys on the bill The guys offer the Swedish vocals simply cool songs, as the last album was able to prove with live recordings. For classic rockers a must buy if you get along with the charming Swedish vocals! " (Vampster) Side D consists of previously unpublished live tracks that were recorded at the release party for the album on May 29, 2009 in Gothenburg.
"... In Scandinavia it is teeming with such musical historians. With Shaman Elephant from the Norwegian mountains they are now being joined by a new splendid specimen (...) What is in this psychedelic shell is equal in variety and movement and leaves one or the other nostalgic involuntarily think of days in which you enjoyed the records of Gong, King Crimson, Procol Harum, Moody Blues and others while enjoying all sorts of smokable medicinal herbs. Shaman Elephant celebrate these old times for six spans, some spun, sometimes also bluesrockig hard ... "(Laut.de) Now the long-awaited successor of the Norwegian band appears, which will soon be mentioned in the same breath as Motorpsycho or its offshoot Spidergawd. 60s and 70 rock psychedelia merge with sometimes massive progressive rock. Influences by Steely Dan, Jimi Hendrix and the Mahavishnu Orchestra are also part of the sound cosmos of 'Wide Awake But Still Asleep'. If you hurry you get one of the limited transparent, red LPs.
The third album by the Belgian psych jazz collective Compro Oro is a collaboration with Murat Ertel, co-founder and front man of the Istanbul cult psych folk band BaBa ZuLa, and his vocal partner Esma Ertel. Already at the first meeting in Istanbul in 2016, both artists recognized their musical and spiritual similarities and later recorded the album "Simurg" under the direction of the producer and multi-instrumentalist Dijf Sanders. Murat Ertel is considered the 'King' of Turkish psychedelia music and one of the leading figures in the alternative scene in Istanbul.
Following their highly acclaimed debut album "Columbia" (2018), psych garage rockers The Blinders from Manchester are now introducing the second album: "Fantasies Of A Stay At Home Psychopath" is a collection of 11 powerful songs that combine the energy of IDLES with the combine warped melodies by John Lennon and the darkness of Bad Seeds. The new album was produced by Rob Ellis (PJ Harvey, Anna Calvi) and mixed by Adrian Bushby (Foo Fighters, Muse).
Smokemaster is a psychedelic rock band from Cologne. Their spectrum ranges from spherical, worn parts à la Pink Floyd up to degenerate jam parts as they are known from live performances by TheDoors, or nowadays Color Haze. They were incredibly happy to be working with sound genius Eroc, who was already in the studio as a drummer of rough cuts with greats like Conny Plank. With incredible dedication and commitment, he gave the record the brilliance and power it needed.
Back in stock! Earth Rot is visionary composer / arranger / producer David Axelrod's third album, and the last of his Capitol trilogy. Recorded as a concept album about the decrepit state of the environment in 1970 Los Angeles, and scheduled for release on the first Earth Day, it features choral vocals and marks a departure for Axelrod's signature sound, which would take on a jazzier feel in the 1970s . This definitive version of Earth Rot, overseen by Now-Again's Eothen Alapatt in conjunction with Axelrod's estate is an audiophile reissue, with the vocal version lacquered directly from Axelrod's original master tapes at Capitol Records by Ron McMaster. The master was approved by Axelrod's son Michael, who adapted ancient lyrics for the album in one of three collaborative projects he did with his father. Contains a 28 page booklet that delves into Axelrod's incredible life and music, replete with never before published photos and an interview. “There are very few people who see the Grand Picture of the Universe and understand the Nothingness that it all comes from. There are even fewer who can express these ideas through music - David could do it all. ” - T-Ray COMES PACKAGED IN A GATEFOLD JACKET WITH A 28-PAGE BOOKLET!

It's a nearly 45-minute long live session in which some of the familiar tracks were reinterpreted. Helmtown Vol.1 was broadcast from the studio on April 10, 2020. Both of the band's short sessions are the duo's first ever live appearances. Vol.2 is now being released as a beautiful LP in a strictly limited edition.
The UK's cosmic, psychedelic-funk ensemble issue their second album on maverick producer Madlib's label, Madlib Invazion. The Heliocentrics' albums are all confounding pieces of work. Drawing equally from the funk universe of James Brown, the disorienting asymmetry of Sun Ra, the cinematic scope of Ennio Morricone, the sublime fusion of David Axelrod, Pierre Henry's turned-on musique concrète, and Can's beat-heavy Krautrock, they have - regardless of the label on which they've released their music - pointed the way towards a brand new kind of psychedelia, one that could only come from a band of accomplished musicians who were also obsessive music fans. Drummer Malcolm Catto and bassist Jake Ferguson are the Heliocentrics' masterminds and producers, and they are obsessive weirdos in today's musical climate, searching, progressive humans who are often out-of-time with current trends. They have been playing together for nearly two decades and their collective drive is to find an individual voice. The Heliocentrics search for it in an alternate galaxy where the orbits of funk, jazz, psychedelic, electronic, avant-garde and “ethnic” music all revolve around “The One.” With Madilb's label Madlib Invazion for Telemetric Sounds, the Heliocentrics have returned to develop their epic vision of psychedelic funk, while exploring the possibilities created by their myriad influences - Latin, African, and more.
Formed in 2002 in Brooklyn, New York the band consists of multi-instrumentalists Andrew VanWyngarden and Ben Goldwasser, both alumni of Wesleyan University. Their 2008 debut album ‘Oracular Spectacular’ spawned the almost ubiquitous hit singles ‘Kids’, ‘Time To Pretend’ and ‘Electric Feel’ while 2010’s follow up ‘Congratulations’ saw them embrace more of a progressive, guitar-driven sound. The band’s Late Night Tales selection of post-punk, cult indie and counter-culture figureheads reflects the band’s multifaceted sound, and draws comparisons with contemporary dreampop/chillwave/shoegaze/folk scenes on both sides of the Atlantic. The listener finds MGMT presiding over the playlist "after-the-after-party”; daybreak creeping through the curtains earlier than desirable, broken bodies lining the corridors, the emotionally bankrupt kept alive by timeless songs of heartache and longing. Luminaries The Velvet Underground, Suicide and Julian Cope, although not with their most famous songs, sit alongside less familiar names such as Disco Inferno; whose ‘Can’t See It Through’ from their final ‘96 album ‘Technicolour’ opens proceedings. MGMT’s exclusive cover of ‘All We Ever Wanted Was Everything’ by Bauhaus sits comfortably alongside the UK post-punk-gothic band’s peers The Durutti Column, The Chills, The Jacobites and Felt’s brief but imposing instrumental ‘Red Indians’. Paranoia strikes deep: the double header of Cheval Sombre’s ‘Troubled Mind’ and ‘Drug Song’ by 60’s Christian folk singer Dave Bixby accentuate the hope offered by the ever penitent Spacemen 3 (MGMT’s second album ‘Congratulations’ was recorded with founder Pete Kember aka Sonic Boom), who deliver ‘Lord Can You Hear Me?’ in respect to the beautiful closer ‘Morning Splendor’, taken from Pauline Anna Strom’s rare ‘82 LP ‘Trans-Millenia Consort‘.
Debut appearance under a new band name for the Potsdam quartet, which already appeared as Stonehenge with an album in 2013, and that on the renowned label of the indie trust NOISOLUTION. The new band name corresponds to the new sound, which draws on elements of prog, psychedelic and stoner rock. In some places one also thinks of Motorpsycho, how they move here through highly complex reef landscapes with changing moods. "Uncanny Valley" is a full throttle ride down into the valley. Never straight ahead, hard on the guardrail. The curves cut, the abyss within sight and yet enjoying the view. Progressive, peppered with surprises and a touch of “pop appeal”. Catchy songs and yet a psychedelic trip! Ignoring clichés and fixed structures, the four have found their own sound, firmly rooted in the scenes from which they come. Stoner, Heavy, Psychedelic, Postrock, Mathrock. The genre milestones could well be shifted here and scene police officers complain - but everyone else enthusiastically celebrates something new.
Kings Of The Valley emerge from Norway's fjords to make retroprog great again. It seems that another export hit is growing here, one that has its feet deep in past decades and its head in the here and now. The dreamy vocals by Christopher Roseth Sand bring their own note to the 70s band sound. Musically, you move between psychedelic and progressive rock, relaxed, leaned back and skillful, as the Scandinavian bands can do. The critically acclaimed debut EP, which won the band the prestigious “Bandwagon Award” in Norway in 2018, was still released on Brygga Records. Now the self-titled work is coming out on “Wonderful & Strange Records” and is being distributed in German-speaking countries via Stickman.
Repressed ON OPAQUE ORANGE VINYL! Archival reissue of the garage-psych-funk Zamrock masterpiece (1975). Our comprehensive overview of Zambia's premier garage-, psych-, prog-, funk-, afro-rock ensemble WITCH, We Intend To Cause Havoc !, is now sold out in its 6LP box set form. So we are making the first four WITCH albums available in archival reissue form. As with our box set, the audio is nigh-perfect - restored and remastered from the original master tapes. WITCH's musical arc is contained in a five year span and, in retrospect, is a logical one. The band's third album, Lazy Bones !!, is the band's masterpiece - a dark, brooding psychedelic opus that makes equal use of wah-wah and fuzz guitars, that relies as heavily on the stomping feel of hard rock as it does the syncopation of Wireless.
At the beginning of 2018 the singer Inga Nelke and the two guitarists Thorsten Dohle and Felix Will meet for a session in a rehearsal room in Cologne and, accompanied by a drum machine, create a sound that is somewhere between shoegaze, herb and psychedelic rock docks and breathes the DIY spirit of the punk and new wave era.
SÓLSTAFIR have always been an extraordinary band. This is not only due to their mystical Icelandic homeland in whose language they mainly write their lyrics or because they have developed from a black metal band to a very variable (post) rock band, it is much more due to the overall concept of SÓLSTAFIR of every publication, always surprising and slightly different from the previous one. For many, the band has something magical about it - an aura that is difficult to describe - you have to hear and understand their music for that. Your music has always flowed as you like it. "After being a metal band for a long time, going through periods of shoegaze, atmospheric black metal and post-rock, I just feel privileged to be able to mix and get away with all of my favorite genres," says Tryggvason. In the musical cosmos of SÓLSTAFIR, artists as diverse as the Beatles, Kraftwerk, Darkthrone, Ennio Morricone and Billy Corgan swirl around and seep through unmistakably into the songwriting. The cover for the new album, "Endless Twilight of Codependent Love", is even reminiscent of a famous Smashing Pumpkins album cover. EXCLUSIVE vinyl edition only via SOULFOOD "Clear / Crystal Double Vinyl"
Little Barrie And Malcolm Catto Team Up For Seven Tracks Of Breaks And Sci-Fi Fuzz For Maverick Producer Madlib's Label Quatermass Seven, the meeting of minds between guitarist Barrie Cadogan, bassist Lewis Wharton and drummer Malcolm Catto represents a re-birth of sorts for Little Barrie, with these their first recordings since 2017’s Death Express and the untimely passing of their gifted drummer and friend Virgil Howe. As Lewis explains, the sessions played a part in the healing process, a way to re-connect through music without any intentions to necessarily come away with a finished record. “It was good to get in the studio again after such a long break especially as we didn’t go in with any agenda or expectations,” he explains. There was no preconceptions that we would make a new Little Barrie record, it was just an opportunity to work on some things Barrie had written for fun with zero pressure.” With most tracks recorded live with minimal overdubs, and produced by Malcolm at his Quatermass studios, The Heliocentrics’ main man brings new flavour to the band’s rhythm section by blending his power behind the drum kit and his expansive skills behind the mixing desk to take Little Barrie’s music forward into new territories. Recorded on Catto’s treasure trove of analogue gear, and mastered onto ¼” tape, the overall effect is guitar, bass and drums finding a sweet spot where genres collide, delivering a record that takes the influences of the past and pushes them towards somewhere more contemporary. “I definitely hear in Barrie’s songs a lot of common musical ground’” explains Malcolm. “It felt like a great thing to do, work with Malcolm while we’re figuring out what we wanna do,” Barrie concludes, “let’s just go in and do some playing and see what happens, and we came out with more than we ever intended.” Quatermass Seven delivers a dark, deep and expansive set of grooves, layered with frazzled and flawless guitar and flowing melodies, as well as pointing toward a future of exciting new musical opportunities. “Still here, so fine, just a little darker state of mind” sings Cadogan on ‘Steel Drum’, words which sum up hope in times of uncertainty, whilst unintentionally offering a perfect description of Quartermass Seven.
This combination of dust-dry stoner riffs and HAWK-windy space-chaos sounds sexy, but somehow totally unnorwegian. This is where this young trio comes from, but musically it is entirely rooted in rock history. It doesn't necessarily have to be the 60s / 70s, 90s bands like MONSTER MAGNET, QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE or even the new-fashioned AMPLIFIER come to mind when listening. A characteristic of DUNE SEA is the strongly alienated vocals, but that's how it has to sound, with a mixture of Shoegaze, Garage Rock and Synthwave sounds.
Reissue of the cult sampler "SEX: Too Fast To Live Too Young To Die" with underground rarities and outsider classics that rotated in the jukebox in Malcolm McLaren's and Vivien Westwood's legendary "SEX" boutique on London's Kings Road in the mid-1970s . Compiled by Marco Pirroni (Siouxsie & The Banshees), Adam & The Ants and some regular customers, the original CD was released in 2003 on OLLA Records, around 2020 by Stranger Than Paradise Records with new artwork and liner notes by Marco Pirroni, Don Letts, Jon Savage, Jordan, Paul Cook (The Sex Pistols) and Steven Walsh (Manicured Noise) to be reissued on vinyl for the first time. "Blasting out great Rock'n'Roll, Garage / Rebel Rock, it had to be the coolest jukebox in London at the time and we'd spend hours hanging around, digging the scene and looking cool." Paul Cook, The Sex Pistols

For the first time on vinyl. Double LP. 26 songs! The early years when the duo were three. Full of ideas, madness, and great songs. In search of the sound that has made them so distinctive and has left a flag on the world map of the blues-rock-stoner scene. The first life of THE PICTUREBOOKS can now be heard completely on vinyl for the first time on “The Early Years”. Double LP, gatefold cover, fat 28-page 12inch booklet, bonus tracks. 11 years after the debut album and 10 years after the second album we can show again what went unheard by many back then. A wonderful review, pimped up and nicely done. Additional, unreleased songs, all in fine packaging.
