The Kings of Frog Island are a stoner / psych-rock project from Leicester, England. The band was formed in 2003 by Mat Bethancourt (Josiah, Cherry Choke) with Mark Buteux and Roger "Dodge" Watson (Scum Pups). Originating in the dark industrial wastelands, The Kings of Frog Island were looking for a sound that combined heavy grooves with psychedelia and fuzz. The Kings of Frog Island draw from a shared passion for cult film soundtracks, mammoth riffs, heavy psych rock and lyrics about love, life and eternal sleep. They were raised on a diet by Kyuss, Monster Magnet, Fu Manchu, and early QOTSA. Her musical influences also include the psychedelia of the 60s and rock of the 70s.
