Records are sensitive recordings, improper storage can lead to deformation. Accordingly, records must be stored properly. Dry and cool!

Moisture sometimes causes mold to form on the cover. If a cover, for example from a junk purchase, is affected by the mold, then replace it with a blank cover. Unprinted cardboard covers cost little money, so you better invest a few cents than if the spurs devote themselves to the rest of your collection.

The second natural enemy of vinyl records is heat. Direct sunlight should be avoided, otherwise the cover may fade considerably. At temperatures between 45 and 50 degrees Celsius, the vinyl becomes soft and begins to deform. The result is clear ...

Ergo: Never expose records to high temperatures and protect them from direct sunlight.

In the long run, inclined storage can also lead to deformation, so store the record upright.

If you store your LPs on top of each other, you risk a damaged cover. The so-called ring wear is preprogrammed by the weight of the stored records. Ringwear refers to the impression of the record outline on the cover.

Records belong in a record inner sleeve and a protective cover. It is best to use those that are equipped with a plastic film, because they reduce the electrostatic charge.
