In their heyday in the 1970s, Tangerine Dreams' live concerts were improvised sound experiences that sounded different every evening with little or no reference to their equally esoteric hit albums. In the 1980s, their sound concretized into recognizable structures, which enabled the band to achieve soundtrack successes for some of the largest film productions of the decade (Risky Business, Firestarter, Near Dark, Thief, Sorcerer). Nowadays the existing members Thorsten Quaeschning, Ulrich Schnauss, Paul Frick (Brandt Brauer Frick) and Hoshiko Yamane are returning to the improvisation method of the early days and play live sessions as a concert or via stream, the best recordings of which appear in the "Sessions" series of albums will be continued in autumn 2020 with Vol. II and III. Both new releases were mastered by award-winning vinyl engineer Miles Showell (The Beatles, Queen, ABBA, Amy Winehouse, The Rolling Stones, The Who, Lana Del Rey, Dido, Underworld) at London's Abbey Road Studios.
