Mercury Music Prize winner Badly Drawn Boy, aka Damon Gough, is finally releasing his new album Banana Skin Shoes via AWAL. Produced and mixed in Stockport last year by Gethin Pearson (Kele Okereke, JAWS) after an original production by Youth (The Verve, Paul McCartney), the album marks the end of a seven-year hiatus. The new longplayer combines a total of 14 brand-new titles, with which Gough is constantly rethinking its classic sound by maintaining trademarks but also incorporating completely new elements. Much of the album was recorded last year at Eve Studios in Stockport, assisted by producer Gethin Pearson (Kele Okereke, JAWS), who also mixed the entire album. Before that, Gough had recorded individual songs with producer legend Youth (The Verve, Paul McCartney) in his London studio and also worked with Keir Stewart (formerly The Durutti Column) at Inch Studios and with Seadna McPhail at Airtight Studios. Badly Drawn Boy has been known for over 20 years as a musician who expresses his feelings and thoughts openly, and so is his ninth studio album - his first in 10 years! - an absolutely personal matter: combined, the 14 tracks make up what is probably the most emotional, warmest, most colorful and honest pop statement that you will hear this year.
